KASABIAN TO PLAY GLASTONBURY "WARM-UP" SHOW

Leicester's very own rabble-rousers Kasabian have announced that they are to play a “pre-Glastonbury warm up show”, even though they’ve yet to officially announce they’ll be playing the festival. Well, not on their official web site or MySpace, but it has been generally assumed that the band would reprise their storming Other Stage set from 2005.

The gig, which takes place at the Newport Centre, Wales on Thursday 21 June is in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, a charity that the band supported last month with a sold-out show at the Royal Albert Hall.

“It’s great we can support Teenage Cancer Trust and help them make a difference,” says Tom Meighan. “After meeting some of the teenagers with cancer at the Albert Hall gig, it really made us want to do more and this show will help the cause, we hope to do more with TCT in the future.”

Tickets are on sale now – you can buy them here.

Q interviewed Kasabian at Glastonbury in 2004, before they were due to open proceedings on the Other Stage on the Friday. See the clip here. Look at them - so fresh-faced, so full of hope... all that changed. By the Sunday.
