The new ticket registration system for Glastonbury 2007 has been effective in bypassing ticket touts, say organisers. Michael Eavis claims that having festival-goers pre-register with their personal details and a photograph before the official on-sale last Sunday (1 April) has stopped tickets appearing through auction sites such as eBay. "I'm absolutely thrilled," Eavis told BBC News. "It seems to be a 100% success. Two to three years after we started trying to get rid of touts, we've achieved it. And people will be able to keep their tickets for ever and ever because we won't need to tear them in half any more. It'll be a great keepsake."
The 137,500 tickets sold out in just under 90 minutes, which Eavis claims is the fastest time ever. Further tickets will go on sale on 22 April. For more info, click here. |
