NEW STAGE FOR GLASTONBURY 2007!

Glastonbury 2007 will see the addition of a brand new stage – The Park. According to Emily Eavis, the new area is designed to evoke the early days of the festival, with acoustic singalongs from an informal line-up of unusual acts. Situated near the Stone Circle in the Green Fields, the new “stage” will be more of an impromptu gathering for late-night revellers, featuring artists as diverse as Glastonbury stalwarts Chas ‘n’ Dave, Kate Nash, Aliens, Jamie T, Spiritualized and Lou Rhodes, singer with Lamb.

"I really wanted it to be a late-night destination that wasn't too full-on, where people can go and relax," Emily told The Guardian yesterday (7 May). "A lot of people don't want to be billed as doing a full set, but if they're there they want to play.” Some “big name” guests are promised, along with a special super-group going under the name of Africa Express.

The casual atmosphere will be added to by the inclusion of several pianos, dotted around the area for talented amateurs to do their thing. So if you fancy tickling the ivories at Glastonbury in the wee small hours this year, head for The Park…

What do you think? Are you excited about the new stage? Will you be creeping around the Stone Circle in the middle of the night?

sounds like a good idea, but so long as the people with the bongo drums can bang away all night. spent many anight dancing on the stones to the sound of the drums.
