Bottom Line is... If ur going just for the music, ur going to the wrong festival! Glasto has never released a line up b4 sales & never will. All u Glasto virgins will learn what it's all about...
Ah the pleasure is only 11 days away.

Re: Re: GLASTONBURY 2007: SUNDAY LINE-UP

:| If you don't like this kind of lineup then you should have gone to the leeds fest or reading where you get the chilis and smashing pumpkins but half the bands that are playing there are playing at glasto too. The lineup is pretty silimar each year so check it out before you go paying and complaining. people go to glasto not for just the music. Don't complain because hundreds of people couldn't get a tickets so count yourself lucky you did and just enjoy the experience, it's not all about the music...

Re: Re: GLASTONBURY 2007: SUNDAY LINE-UP

Is it not obvious the reason they don't do that is because there's no need to release the line-up first? Not everyone is so 'un-open' to the idea of new music and seeing attractions and it actually being a privilege to be there. Every year the line-up is pretty similar so why don't people just check the past ones first before complaining? You can't please everyone and it's become so obvious that some people know how to deal with disappointment more than others :| don't ruin it for everyone else. Glastonbury is made by the people for the people and so they try to give us a wide range of music so there's something for everyone. With thousands of people going, some people aren't going to be happy- It's the way it is. It's the experience that counts. There are many reasons why Glastonbury happens and it's all for a good cause. If you've been to Glastonbury before you'll realise that there's more to it than the music. Why not just buy a ticket for Reading or Leeds when you know you're going to get a set of good bands first, stop complaining when some people are actually trying to appreciate what we have and the fact we actually got tickets...

Re: GLASTONBURY 2007: SUNDAY LINE-UP

The whole idea of releasing tickets before the line up is to avoid getting people like you turn up. Where else do you get this calibre of choice for £50 a day? If you don't like it, don't come.

Re: GLASTONBURY 2007: SUNDAY LINE-UP

STOP COMPLAINING!

Glastonbury would still be great fun if the only band playing were a bunch of hippies with a didgeridoo. You could actually probably find that somewhere... stone circle anyone?

I find it hard to believe that there aren't a few bands you want to see in that vast line up....even if you hate them all, its not about the music anyway. Have a hash cake and go and sit in the tipi field instead if you don't like the Kaiser Cheifs.

I must admit when i saw the leaked versions of the Pyramid and Other stages i was a little disappointed, but having seen the whole lineup, and who on the smaller stages I CAN'T WAIT. Its an amazing lineup. I went to Glasto in '03, but this is better.

Plus people are right. For £50 a day you can't be robbed and Glasto is special, and not just cos of the music.

No 'Creedance', no 'The Good, The Bad and The Queen', no 'Smokey Robinson'...
Glasto may be the best in the UK, but if they had released the line-up before the tickets, I would have chosen another Festival in Europe.

Still good, but not the best possible. If you live in London, you already have seen most of those bands on the past year...

Mr Eavis!!! Please book Boards Of Canada next year (in the Glade would be perfect). Suprised Thom Yorke hasn't been booked this year either... but as I couldn't get tickets I'm not too disappointed - just hope the telly doesn't show the entire Killers set again - how about a bit of eveything, chaps?

Re: GLASTONBURY 2007: SUNDAY LINE-UP

wow. in 12 years of going, this is easily the poorest lineup so far. true, theres some corkers, but emily eavis has a LOT to answer for. her influence is ruining the place. the kooks? mika? james morrison? ffs! it looks like a V lineup, not glastonbury. its all a bit too safe and predicatable

i know I for one will be avoiding the main stage for the bulk of the festival.

i'll still have a great time, but i doubt a lot of that will be down to the music. although back to the planet? GET IN!

Re: GLASTONBURY 2007: SUNDAY LINE-UP

Two points (probably re-iterating those already stated by some, but just to inform the haters....):

1) This is one of the best line-ups i've seen and this is my 5th Glast session.

2) Even it wasn't an amazing line-up i'd still be excited as the atmosphere at Glasto p1sses all over any other festival. If you want to have commercial tat rammed down your throat, and maybe get lucky and watch a poor pop act like Girls Aloud, go to Leeds or V, if you want 3-4 days of blissed out chilled happiness, keep going to Glasto.

Adios.

Re: GLASTONBURY 2007: SUNDAY LINE-UP

The Pyramid is very mainstream but there's some great stuff lined up elsewhere. As said before, its really about the random episodes of friendliness & fun. Can't beat a cup of Chai as the sun comes up.

The Marley experience is a lovely touch - I'll enjoy singing along to Exodus, so maybe I'll make it to the main stage after all..

Can highly recommend LONGRANGE (ex-Orbital), they were awesome at the Big Chill last year.

To everyone who didn't get tickets, we appreciate going and good luck next year.

Glastonbury the best festival in the world?

I think not. I'm hoping other comments other people have written about it being about more than the music become true.

I took a punt on 'glasto' producing the goods over rock werchter in belgium the following weekend. how wrong i was.

Michael Eavis said the best modern band in the world was supposed to play? Is that the killers after only two cd's. please.

I agree with the nay-sayers. The line-up is poor... if you don't like prancing, immaculately scruffy posh boys playing formulaic drivel and has beens then the main stages are crap... on a plus note, Avalon, Glade and leftfield look good. And there's always the Cabaret tent for spliffs and laughter...

Re: GLASTONBURY 2007: SUNDAY LINE-UP

I think if you moan about who's actually playing at Glastonbury, you're missing the point... or you've simply never been.

If you're not impressed by the headliners - check out the other stages! The LeftField and the Dance Village have some amasing stuff lined up, and the Jazz World Stage is always excellent. And that's not counting the dozens of little stages, cubby holes and stalls that pump out tunes all day and night.

On of my personal highlights of 2005 were the wine stalls that put on a show of cheesy tunes every night 'neath a giant inflatable wine bottle. Live a little!

Been 5 times and I've have spent no more than 8 to 10 hours at the big stages each time. Glastonbury is so much more than "gigging". In fact, if attending gigs is your thing, try to catch your heroes on tours of theatres and concert halls. it sounds better indoors anyway!

If I was younger I would go to Glastonbury just to see Rufus Wainwright. Having seen him in London last week-end I would consider that he's worth the price of a ticket all by himself!

you ungrateful bxxxxxds. i sat for hours on the phone trying to complete my plan to propose to my gal of eight years at this years festival. all year long i work 7 days a week and wanted to repay my gals faith in my art talent by getting on one knee and poppin the question. allt hat was ruined by phone discrimination. you give me your ticket you whiney bxxxh. this festival is about attitude and a frame of mind . you sir are whats wrong with this world and you do not deserve your ticket

Re: Re: Re: GLASTONBURY 2007: SUNDAY LINE-UP

Ugh ffs just wrote a whole justified comment just for it to disappear :O anyhow...what you've said is true I don't wanna propose to anyone or anything but to be at glasto is privilege but people seem to be so single minded about everything caring only about the music that they're not even prepared to give other bands a try. If the band aren't great but the audience is good then an amazing atmosphere can be created and that can make a gig. You can't go to Glasto trying to understand it. It's something completely different, the tickets sold out in around 90 minutes this year and that's saying something. Want an amazing lineup- go only for the music- go to reading or leeds. Appreciate a new experience, new bands, attractions and feel privileged you actually got a ticket as so many people would want yours. Stop complaining please? the line-up's good this year. kthanksbye.

Why don't all you people moaning about the line up all meet up, I'm sure that would be more fun for you all. Maybe you could also not stop others enjoying it next year! I can't wait to get there again, and I'm sure we'll all enjoy the extra space you leave us. Prehaps party in the park.....

Re: GLASTONBURY 2007: SUNDAY LINE-UP

i think they should have kept completely silent on the line up as the disappointment was not having any new surprises on the line up ...i needed to tell myself to get a grip you spoilt brat...
it's just the big names were already out there and for some reason on June 1st I thought there would be some huge announcement but they just confirmed what we knew. I also fancied some more dance acts and big dance dj's and they all seem new or unknown (to me at least...I need to do some myspace research - love snacho panza thou)...so does this mean I am old? And in fact if I wanted dance then should I be going to global gathering??? not a traditionally folky indie fest? Apart from all my inner debating, which extends to how big is my carbon wellie stomp print going to be by just attending...I think it will be great :-)

Re: GLASTONBURY 2007: SUNDAY LINE-UP

Do u know wat u lot that are going on about the line up...being crap shld just stay at home!! you have no sese of adventage!!!So wat not everything that is on is amazing but stil its a privalidge too see the bands that are on!! You have tooo remember there has to be somethings to please everyone, so its not going to be all YOUR favourite music is it?! You shld be grateful....there is many people that were despirate for a ticket that were unfortunate and are very disapointed!
If you have nothing better to do than complain the go somewhere else........stop putting other people off....and spoiling the excitment of others and first timers!!!!
Next time dnt by a ticket!!You could have refunded your tickets when you heard the rumours of the line up beacuse you had an idea of what was going to be on, you choose not to soo live wit it and let the rest of us be excited.........!!!
Glasto 2005 was amazing!!
So bring on glasto 2007!!!!

Re: GLASTONBURY 2007: SUNDAY LINE-UP

I think a lot of people are mistakenly thinking that just because a band or performer is not a huge household name they won't be any good. There's loads of great music from smaller bands dotted all around the festival - I was at the Emerging Talent Comp Finals and heard some truly fantastic stuff and almost all of the bands that made it there are putting in an appearance somewhere at the festival. Recommendations (if you can find where they are at) are Cortina Deluxe, Liz Green, Polichinelle and (shameless plug for my band ahoy) Feluka. Out of all the bands on the lineup, how many haven't you seen or even heard of before? Keep an open mind, there's bound to be some marvellous stuff around that you haven't even considered because you're too keen to see 'name' acts.

Re: GLASTONBURY 2007: SUNDAY LINE-UP

Parts of the lineup look a bit "T4 on the beach" but it doesnt matter. They could get rid of the two main stages and 90% of what makes the festival special would remain.

The organizers do themselves no favors by making such a big deal of waiting for the June 1st announcement and then failing to delver any surprises.

The ticketing has been a farce once again.

Despite all that, there's plenty to look forward to. A Libertines reunion (?) alone would justify the ticket cost for me. I can't wait!

Free ticket - gees you lucky thing! Do you know anyone else going? You could do the festival on your own, although it may be more fun with some others.. if you've never been and you have a free ticket it's really worth going, if your on your own you could go
for a day to save camping on your own.. or you may find other people on the net who are travelling on their own and you could hang out with them..

Greetings from Vancouver Canada. All the days have amazing lineups. I wish I could go. Sigh! Maybe someday. Has anybody heard what John Martyn is up to these days? I know he is touring, but when is the new cd coming out? He is my all time favourite by far. Also like to know about Robert Wyatt. Guess I will try to find his website. Any replies would be greatly appeciated. I would like to make some U.K friends.

Glade Area band Sunday 8pm

I saw a band I think it was on the Glade stage, it was certainly in the Glade area who played Afro beat and Dub.

They were on around 8pm on the Sunday and the lead singer and percussionist was an African guy in full tribal dress. His backing group was half African half West Indian with two white guys on the horns section.

I had a wonderful hour dancing to some absolutely wonderful African funk and Dub reggae, but had to rush off without ever finding out who they were. I think they may have been Soothsayers but would be extremely grateful if someone could confirm this.

Cheers

Ian
