#2: EAT SOME PIES
One of the great Glastonbury traditions, The Square Pie Company have offered stodge-filled sustenance to weary festival-goers since 2002 and this year they’re going one better. Square Pie has teamed up with The Chemical Brothers, the Manic Street Preachers and Arctic Monkeys to create their own favourite festival pies.
For The Chemical Brothers, Square Pie have created the Massimo Curry Pie (Tom Rowland’s favourite pie). For the Manic Street Preachers there is “Design for Pie” - a heady festival cocktail of baked pork sausage, tomatoes, onion and oregano, and for the Arctic Monkeys, a steak and ale pie with a twist of real Sheffield Henderson sauce. The pies will be available on the day that each band is playing in C market.
And that’s not all - Square Pie is also running a Glastonbury competition, in which one person can win three days work for Square Pie at Glastonbury, and bring their mate. The winner and their friend will work three 8 hour shifts and get paid £50 a shift, plus all the pies they can eat! When they are not working they can do exactly as they please. Winners need to get themselves there and back, and around from Thursday night to Monday morning or late Sunday and perhaps most importantly, not forget their wellies and a tent.
All hopefuls have to do is go to http://www.squarepie.com/glasto%20home and submit a recipe for their favourite fantasy festival pie. How about Beef And Red Wine pie for Amy Winehouse? Welsh leek and blue cheese pie for Super Furry Animals? Or Pigeon Pie for The Pigeon Detectives?
They are just a few suggestions based on a quick glance at the line-up and very little imagination. What do you think?
