Eavis praises "appreciative" festival-goers

In a message posted on the official Glastonbury website, Michael Eavis has praised festival-goers for their "overwhelming" support at this year's event. "I want to say thank you to all of you for buying a ticket in the first place against all odds and for being so exceedingly courteous and appreciative of the Festival," he writes. "I find it personally quite overwhelming and very moving. If I ever needed encouragement to carry on, you have all given me loads of it."

However, the festival organiser apologised to people who found themselves stuck in the traffic jams leaving the site on Monday, and those who had problems getting on coaches. "Considering the conditions and the fact that it takes 3 days to fill the site, I don’t think our traffic team could have done any better, however hard they tried," he says. "Unfortunately, some of the buses that we had pinned so much faith on, did let us down. Some were late, and others decided some of our folk were too dirty to carry home on their nice new coaches. Before the next Festival I will be working with the coach companies to make sure the same problems are not repeated."
