Here’s an excellent photo gallery from the BBC all about what happens to the rubbish that’s left behind once the Glastonbury festival ends. It’s incredible to see just how much organisation goes into such an event and how much material is left for scrap. You can just imagine some of the thought processes involved: “No way – we had such a time of it dragging that sofa all the way here, I’m buggered if I’m dragging it all the way back home again.”

Luckily, charity Global Hand were there to pick up all the unwanted tents, camping chairs and gazebos, meaning that what some people couldn’t be bothered packing away (“Eeew, it’s raining!”) would be scooped up and sent to areas of the world where they really need that kind of equipment.
