Michael Eavis said it was “meteorological conditions” that meant the sound had to be turned down during The Killers’ set on Saturday night, to make sure that the festival kept within the acceptable limits set down by Mendip Council’s license. Presumably, the clear night meant that Shepton Mallet was in danger of being blasted by Mr Brightside at some point. But did it spoil the festival for you? Did The Killers come across loud and proud from where you were standing, or was their set a bit half-hearted? And what were those antlers on Brandon Flowers’ keyboards all about?
Mr Flowers has publicly commented that he was somewhat nervous before headlining the Pyramid Stage and that may have come across in the performance. However, drummer Ronnie Vannucci, claims that they had black magic on their side, as he revealed to Q shortly before taking the stage (see the interview here).
“Killers were good but I couldn’t hear them that well,” said Roxy on these very pages. However, Nicola claims that “They were fucking awesome!! loved them!” While there’s no need for profanity, opinion seems to be 50/50.
What do you think? Did The Killers deliver, or did you wish that you were invading the stage over at Iggy And The Stooges? Let us know your views here.
