...but the good news is that the mud has all but disappeared. Weather forecasts didn't look entirely promising for today (Saturday), but they turned out to be wrong. After a whole day of glorious sunshine and very little cloud cover, the thick, wet sludge that had threatened to turn Glastonbury 2008 into yet another miserable washout has - believe it or not - dried out. The grass may be no more, but little by little the ubiquitous Glastonbury wellies are being replaced by trainers and sandals as people all over the sprawling farm make the most of the warmth and blue skies. Not even Crowded House's collection of weather-based songs forced the weather to change. Last year, the band played the Wireless Festival in Hyde Park and within minutes of playing Weather With You and Four Seasons In One Day, the glorious sunshine disappeared and the band were forced offstage by a torrential downpour. But this time, during their mid-afternoon set on the Pyramid Stage, the band were unable to curse the blue skies that many thought Glastonbury would miss out on for yet another year.
